Congratulations to Austin Henson and Erik King! They competed at the SkillsUSA State Championships in Indianapolis on Saturday, April 15th, in the Precision Machining competition and were very successful. Austin placed 1st and Erik placed 2nd against 17 other students who qualified from throughout the state.
Erik won an assortment of machinist tools and Austin earned a $2500 scholarship to VU. Both students are a part of Mr. Mark Scott's Precision Machining classes. Way to go! #WeArePCHSChargers
PCHS had 12 students who competed in the 7th Annual STEM Challenge at OCU with 30 other teams on Friday, April 14. They were put through a variety of STEM challenges to solve. We had 3 teams of 4 who were sponsored by Mr. Scott, Mr. Vaal, and Mr. Lamey. Although none of the teams won any of the competitions, it was a great experience and they are ready to go back next year and win!

Mr. Adam Vaal's Fire/Science Classes had a surprise visitor during EVOC training. Pike County EMA director Ryan Benner stopped in to show the students the EMA's new drone. The drone has a range of three miles, a maximum elevation of 400 feet, video, audio and thermal imaging.

Check out the tetrahedron pyramid that was built by some of Mrs. Craig's math classes. The pyramid is created by creating larger tetrahedrons from smaller ones. Quite a project!
The Spanish department worked on a project to imitate an Easter tradition in Antigua, Guatemala. During Holy Week, they would close the streets of Antigua to motor vehicles and the community creates intricate murals of flowers on the cobblestone roadways depicting Easter and other similar messages. There would be a parade through the city reenacting the original Good Friday. It's awesome when the students learn about traditions other countries and some of their traditions. Thanks to our Spanish department for doing this! #WeArePCHSChargers
