The PCHS Precision Machining students have been busy with some state contests recently. On February 3rd, the students competed in the SkillsUSA Regional competition at VU. Austin Henson, Cam Case and Andy Bieker took the top 3 places in manual machining. Isaac Shimer took 3rd place in the CNC milling. All four students received scholarships to VU and have advanced to the State competition on April 20th. Last Saturday, three students competed in the INTMA competition at Ivy Tech in Indianapolis. Austin Henson placed third in the manual machining portion. There were 23 other students competing in the manual machining. Austin won a nother scholarship to VU along with a machinist toolbox and machinists tools. Congratulations to all.

A big shoutout to Albert Whitehead and Tyler Collins from Mr. Vaal's IED class. We had one of the dividers on a charging station in a classroom break. Mr. Vaal had the students measure all of the dimensions with calipers and build the piece using their CAD(Computer-aided design) program. Then they printed it out on the 3-D printer. Adjustments had to be made, but they were able to give us a working piece today. Love when our students get a chance to solve real world problems using the skills they learn in their classes. Great job! #ChargerPride
