It was a busy week for the Pike Central fire rescue students. On May 8th, Jefferson Township and Petersburg fire departments held a live burn for Mr. Vaal’s fire class. Doug Mounts, Chris Young, Connor Young, Ross Elmore, Jordan Ison, Nick Blue, Ashley Raney, and Steven Owen were all there to assist in showing the students how to determine the temperature of a fire, fire suppression, smoke layers, and ventilation.
Following that, on May 10th, Chris Young and Connor Young from Jefferson Township Fire Department taught the students how to do vehicle extrication. They taught them how to stabilize vehicles, cut posts on cars, roll the roof of the car, roll a dash, and get motor vehicle accident patients out safely. What a week!
A big thank you to Myers Tire and Service for letting the students train at their facility.

The Spanish Club organized hosted the 2nd graders from PES. The 2nd graders worked on learning Spanish numbers and colors at school and then came to PCHS to go through four stations to practice what they learned and learn some more. They played a colors game, a numbers game, learned a Mexican Hat dance and also played an Hola activity! It was a huge success and they plan to expand to WES for next year. Nice job!

Congrats again to Mrs. Bohnert and the PC Broadcasting class! The film was a part of a challenge by Va Berne where students had two weeks to complete a five minute movie. Sweet Dreams was one of seven films chosen for screening at the Thyen-Clark Cultural Center in Jasper. Great job! #ChargerPride
