Our high school culinary students have been hard at work mastering the science behind baking!
Over the past few weeks, students learned about the roles of different baking ingredients, proper wet-to-dry ratios, baking temperatures, and baking times. For their final assessment, they were given a true challenge: create an original cookie recipe using only the knowledge they’ve gained in class — no cookbooks, no internet research, and no outside recipes.
We are proud to say they rose to the occasion! The students did a fantastic job applying what they’ve learned and created some truly delicious cookies.
One standout recipe has been chosen to be featured at the Pike County Chamber of Commerce Annual Dinner! Taylor Skinner's creation will be added to line of desserts the culinary arts class are making for the event! Congratulations

Next, they moved to the arena where they practiced grooming, picking horses' feet, and safely walking the horses. Freedom Reins wrapped up the visit by talking about their program and all the benefits of serving those who need the therapeutic services, and how to become a volunteer.
The students did a fantastic job and truly enjoyed the hands-on experience working with the horses!
