Mr. Lamey and Mrs. Richardson met with the sophomores and juniors today to discuss options for Work-Based Learning that are available for them as seniors. Lots of opportunities for students if they keep the grades up and have good attendance. If any parents have questions, reach out to the Guidance Department or Mr. Brad Lamey.

Our FFCLA organization is AWESOME! They will be recycling paper from the school , shredding it, combining it with scraps from the cafeteria and transform it into compost. That compost will be fed to their worm farm, which in turn will produce nutrient-rich worm castings. These are a natural fertilizer which will be use to help nourish our very own Charger Garden and greenhouse. The Charger Garden helps provide vegetables and herbs that are used in the foods classes and even by our cafeteria!

Feel free to view or visit the Charger Garden located on the west side of the greenhouse. Our staff and students rock!

Mrs. William's Geometry classes have been studying angle relationships. The classes went out to enjoy the weather and have a little fun with their lessons. Students created equations and problems for their classmates to solve.

Mr. Howald's Construction Trades classes are very thankful for the generous donation from Petersburg Hardware. Their donation of nails, screws and drill bits will make a huge difference. Look to follow and see what they are building this year!

PCHS offers a Strength and Conditioning class that is available to any student for PE credit. Great for anyone who wants to physically better themselves, this class is a available. Great option for 2nd semester. If your child is interested, they will need to talk with their guidance counselor. Check out the monthly newsletter that Mr. Kramer puts out for this class. http://bit.ly/47GiMWB

Mr. Igel and Pike Central seniors welcomed Congressman Mark Messmer on Aug 15 to the Vance Hay's Auditorium. Mr. Messmer spoke to students about why he ran for office and all the offices he has held. He also spoke with students about many aspects of representative democracy, our constitution and valuable information on different aspects of our federal government. The floor was then open to questions from the students. Thank you Congressman Messmer for sharing your morning with our students.

P.C. Broadcasting visited the Elmer Buchta Technology Center to participate in the Powered by Pike event. Students planned to interview various guests to discuss coal mining, AES, and solar panels. They also toured the building and saw some of the history surrounding Pike County coal mines. The group plans to make a documentary on Pike County's role in energy production. Looking forward to another great year of broadcasts and other videos!

Congratulations to the PCHS Volleyball team for receiving the Team Academic Award from IHSVCA for the 2024-25 school year. To receive this honor, the team had to have an average GPA of 3.5 or higher. Out of the 400 teams that are a part of the IHSVCA, only 63 teams received the honor. What an honor! Keep it up! Charger Nation is proud of this accomplishment. #ChargerPride

Congratulations to our May Charger of the Month, Hailee Rocket! Hailee is involved in many activities including marching band, pep band, concert band and Spanish club, but she also challenges herself with rigorous coursework to prepare herself for a path to pediatric nursing. On top of that, she also works two part-time jobs! That's why she is our Charger of the Month!
