Career Fair

On April 11th, 2023, Pike Central students in grades 9-12 were given the opportunity to engage with 42 local companies during Pike Central’s Annual Career Fair.  The fair is hosted by the PCHS Guidance Department and brings together local businesses to further educate students based on their career interests, as well as provide insight to new occupations that arise within the community, as our hometown continues to develop.  In addition to our community’s supportive companies, Pike Central’s doors were also open to local colleges, as well as military branches.  Whether it be the workforce, college, or military - we want to ensure that our students know their options and have the information to make informed decisions regarding their futures at their fingertips.

As our event continues to grow, so do our connections.  While seniors on their way towards graduation are associating themselves with possible references or even leaving the fair with a scheduled interview or meeting, our remaining students and staff are interacting with entities to further develop or create programs between our school and their company/institution.  This is easily said for our Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs.  Many of the companies in attendance are currently working with or looking to extend their assistance to our CTE programs.  It is through these connections that our school and community continue to thrive!  It simply starts with a conversation.   To help initiate this step, we offer an incentive that the students are definitely in favor of.  Each student who visits the career fair, was given the opportunity to receive a prize.  To win, the student must have interacted with three different companies and/or institutions.  By asking questions or having a meaningful conversation with them, our students were eligible to receive a prize given from each attendee.  These prizes were spectacular and gratefully received by our students.

While the career fair comes and goes, we feel the positive impact that it has on our students, staff, and future of Pike Central throughout the year.  The support received from our community fuels our main goal and purpose of the career fair - to support and provide our students with information and opportunities, while giving back to our community.  If you have any questions regarding the career fair or would like to be added to the list for next year’s event, please contact the Pike Central HS Guidance Office by phone at (812) 354-8478.  Thank you to all of our attendees for making this another highly successful event!
