Alfombra Project

Alfombra Project
Posted on 04/06/2021
Spanish 3 and 4 spent a week creating an “Alfombra” for Easter. In many places in Latin America, including the town of Antigua, Guatemala, people and towns create giant flower alfombras or carpets in anticipation of Easter. These flowers mimic Palm Sunday, when people in Jerusalem laid out palms for Jesus. On Good Friday, they have religious parades over the alfombras commemorating that journey. Spanish 3 and 4 made their own alfombras out of construction paper and created learning posters to teach the lower level Spanish classes, and the rest of the school, about the tradition.
